Background information, content
"The photo book 'STATE / Etat' breaks away from the iconography of catastrophe that is usually used to illustrate Haiti. The exhibition shows images that tell of order rather than chaos, of comedy rather than tragedy: rich Haitians, the slow emergence of a middle class, Paolo WOODS, together with Swiss journalist and writer Arnaud Robert, describes the dynamics at work in all developing countries: International organizations versus local government, civil society versus executive power, private money versus public money."
