Background information
"Just behind Hamburg's main train station begins the district of St. Georg. It is not a place of the big world, but one of the little people. For the hurried visitor there is love and forbidden substances to buy. For those who bring more time with them, a small cosmos opens up. In the spring of 1981, Dirk REINARTZ roamed through St. Georg in search of his own personal images of the neighborhood. He found them in street scenes, in the everyday life of the residents and in the looks of the people. The photographs, commissioned by 'Merian', were never printed at the time.
