Background information
"Published on the occasion of an exhibition at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, this book of photographs, 'Sentmental Journey 1971-2017' by Nobuyoshi ARAKI focuses on a single subject from his vast oeuvre with a profound collection of photographs: his wife Yoko. - As Nobuyoshi ARAKI himself has said, 'I became a photographer thanks to Yoko'. From their first meeting in 1968 until her untimely death from ovarian kebs in 1990, Yoko was both his most important subject and muse.

The photo book 'Sentimental Journey. 1971-2017' by Nobuyoshi ARAKI explores his relationship from to the woman he cherished most, beginning with his photographs of their honeymoon and continuing in numerous photographs in which she is the subject, as well as many others after her death that convey a strong sense of her presence."
