Background information
"Nicole AHLAND is not interested in the pure representation of architectonic space but rather in the interaction of light, space, and time. Her photography always demonstrates rooms devoid of people, rooms that are shifted into darkness or overexposed from the light. She works in analogue form and creates the effects of transparency, overlay, and soft focus by means of traditional photography only. The result is images full of sensuous energy and meditative tranquillity." (© Wienand Verlag, 2015)
Content
"The photo book 'Fotografie Nichtraum' accompanied the exhibitions of
the same name by Nicole AHLAND at the Kunstverein Ludwigshafen am Rhein
and the Museum Wiesbaden. The silent, poetic and all captured with an
analog camera color shots are beautifully reproduced.
In addition, the volume convinces with texts translated by Barbara Auer
('In the middle of the room') and Peter Forster ('Wrestling with spaces'
/ 'Wrestling with Spaces'); a short biography and exhibition views
complete the volume and make the catalog interesting for curators as
well as other photographers." (© Richard G. SPORLEDER)
