Background information
"The forest interior is more architecture than landscape. Amidst trees, your sense of time changes. When you are inside the forest and let the outside world disappear, the wind calms and noise is filtered; the temperature changes and light is reflected and dimmed. Some trees stand like sentinels, others stand firmly in rows, an army of trees appears out of the darkness. This seeming sanctuary of silence can change strangely. It is its own world. Entering the forest is always like entering the unknown, where the semi-darkness hides much and reveals something. A place sometimes mysterious, sometimes secretive, but always seductive and always dark." (publisher's free translation, for the original English-language text: © Dewi Lewis, 2009)
