Background information
Over the last four decades, Edward BURTYNSKY has documented the shocking dimensions of the most diverse industrial landscapes worldwide: oil refineries and quarries, water management and salt extraction plants. But in the spring of 2020, Edward BURTYNSKY, like most of us, remained in lockdown due to the Corona Pandemic. He was at that time in Grey County, Ontario - an area of wild beauty where his very first photographs were taken. Edward BURTYNSKY used this isolation to reflect and create: with a new camera, he captured the nature around him in images that celebrate 'the complexity, magic and resilience of the natural order in all things'.
Content
In the photo book 'Natural Order' Edward BURTYNSKY captures a moment in which humanity pauses, stores are closed, entire industries stand still - a moment in which nature can take a breath. The photographs of trees and plants show nature in the transition from winter to spring, when the snow melts, new shoots sprout and the promise of abundance and renewal is in the air.
