Background information
"Photographer VANHÖFEN travels for his pictures to areas of our world that are changing at breakneck speed. It is always places where people believe wholeheartedly in permanent growth and unlimited profit, because the effects of this fatal attitude are the target objects of his photographic work. In Africa, Europe, Asia and North America, he visits places where the consequences are unmistakably evident: From the Chicago Stock Exchange and the townships of Cape Town to Puglia's forest fires and Detroit's abandoned factories to the junkyard of his hometown in the Ruhr region, he captures these modern ruins of our time in strangely poetic photographs.Content
