Background information, personal statement of the photographer Ariane TOUSSAINT.
"My great aunt Claudine is a hoarder. She is old, fragile and isolated in a house that becomes a danger for her. Her life and her house depend on a delicate balance between love and solitude. Looking at her intimacy allowed me to make a double portrait of her and me. Photographing her house was a bonding motif, as we share the same obsession with collecting. I was looking for the tip of the strand, the endless tapestry from whence I came. Its interior seemed chaotic to the stranger I was; Upon examination, it revealed its own logic."
