'Nationalfeiertag' by German photographer Katja STUKE, combines images from the Chinese National Day in Tiananmen Square with photographs from the commemoration of the 1989 massacre at the same place. Hidden are also texts from 1989 published in Hong Kong

In 'The Land of Promises', Youqine LEFÈVRE traces her own fate when she documents the China journeys of six adoptive families. As a result of China's one-child policy, she was one of the many girls separated from their families and put up for adoption.

The photo volume 'Chongqing Souvenir' Lukas BIRK is about how to bring impersonal images of violence to discussion. The people depicted in the book are dissidents who have been mounted in a book designed in the manner of private memory albums of the time.

'Mouvement' about René BURRI gives an overview about his work which has written history. Removed from sensationalism yet no less striking are his images of the theater of war, of people suffering in poverty & with equal intensity to the spheres of beauty.
