Background information, content
The out-of-print photo volume 'The Vienna Album' accompanied the exhibition, 2005/2006 at KunstHausWien. "Over the past three decades, Albert WATSON (b.1942) has distinguished himself as one of the world's most successful fashion and advertising photographers, and incidentally created an independent artistic work. His distinctive images were featured on more than 250 Vogue titles and in countless publications. Many of his portraits of celebrities are now considered icons.
The spectrum of his photographic work is as impressive as the aesthetic power, emotional intensity and latent eroticism of his images. Whether it's advertising or portraits, nude studies, still lifes or the landscapes of Morocco or New Mexico - the common denominator in this diversity is his irrepressible curiosity about the world, its beauties, curiosities and abysses, and its desire to reinvent images time and time again, his unflinching sense of perfection lends his photography a brilliance that lifts it far beyond the contemporary flood of images."
