In 'Eternal Chase' neither composition, exposure nor focal length are in focus, these are secondary. Tamiko NISHIMURA leaves it up to the object to show itself. In contrast to the spiritual expectation at the selection, she took a lot of time to fix it.

Rinko KAWAUCHI's volume in the 'Des Oiseux' series focuses - like the text by ornithologist Guilhem Lesaffre - on the way of life of swallows, their history, their south-north migration, the season of birth, and their special relationship with humans.

This paperback volume, 'Shomei Tomatsu. Japan 1952-1981' from 1984 is a very informative catalog on the work of the Japanese photographer due to its well-made, precise selection of black-and-white photos as well as the essays written in two languages.

In 'Slow Boat' Koji ONAKA compares sailing on a boat with his way of life & photography. The b/w photos were taken between 1984 and 1999. His fifth monograph in total was published in three editions, with the 2nd edition published as a faithful facsimile.

This publication shows black & white protest photos from the 1960s in Japan. 'Agitators', however, is a more modern publication format of older photographic material, in which the photographer is involved. Kazuo KITAI played a decisive role in the design.

The photos in 'At Dusk' by Miyuki OKUYAMA give insight into her inner life and her states of mind as she moved from one culture to another. The images are inspired by fragmented childhood memories, long repressed fears, and vaguely remembered nightmares.

The out-of-print and hard-to-find volume 'In Search of Dignity and Justice. The untold story of Conservancy Workers in Mumbai' by Sudharak OLWE shows the fate of workers in Bombay. It contains fourty-six mostly full-paged b/w images and six pages of text.

'Ayu no Kaze', found in Japan's oldest volume of poetry, is a sailor's saying and roughly means 'wind of promise'. This photo book diary of longing and serenity alludes to intimate and at the same time universal changes in life.
