European Publishers Award for Photography 2007
"Often awarded photographer PELLEGRIN (b. 1964 at Rome, since 2005 MAGNUM member) is seeing himself in the role and responsibility of a witness.
He's looking for people's direct contact in war areas, horrible poverty and incalculable siuations.
His reports are frequently published in New York Times Magazine and in Newsweek. Since 2011 he's presenting every week one of his impressive, drastic photographs in German 'ZEITmagazin'. Paolo PELLEGRIN is showing sympathy and respect for nameless people; his photographs impressing us by exceptional intimacy.
On the occasion of his retrospektive 2011 in Munich with photographs from last ten years he released this accordeon photo book which just in an amount of 200 copies would signed by Paolo PELLEGRIN.
Each strong photograph is follwed by another strong picture; at the end there's an appendix with details and the text of PELLEGRIN's interview with curator Isabel Siben." (publisher's note, Munich 2011)
