Background information
"What importance and what a prominent place this trio would occupy in the avant-garde of their time, nor the immense influence that photographers Manuel Álvarez BRAVO, Henri CARTIER-BRESSON & Walker EVANS would have on future generations no one could have imagined in 1935. The exhibition that year in New York was one of the first exhibitions Henri CARTIER-BRESSON ever had. The present catalog volume, 'Documentary and Anti-graphic Photographs', was the last project Henri CARTIER-BRESSON contemplated before he passed away.
Content
The contemporary prints assembled in this catalog volume, 'Manuel Álvarez BRAVO, Henri CARTIER-BRESSON & Walker EVANS - Documentary and Anti-graphic Photographs', for the first time since 1935, represent an extraordinary collection of famous as well as sometimes unknown images. This selection of early works by three masters of photography, Manuel Álvarez BRAVO, Henri CARTIER-BRESSON as well as Walker EVANS, presents us with the history of the medium in the making."
