Background information
"In 'Peripheren' Katja STUKE and Oliver SIEBER deal with questions about the structures of cities and the connection between urban and social boundaries. Their focus is on marginalized regions and districts or those that are stigmatized in the collective perception. They work in series and sequences; layering, mixing and linking material to create multi-layered associations.

The photo volume 'Peripheren' by Katja STUKE and Oliver SIEBER relates the French capital Paris to the Ruhr region and its imaginary center, the Zeche Zollverein, often referred to as the 'Eiffel Tower of the Ruhr'. In their photographs, taken along Paris' Périphérique, they refer to urban places in the Ruhr region.
Seemingly chosen at random, they reveal precisely for this reason, in their randomized, fragmentary arrangement, unexpected intersections and insightful connections between geographically and temporally disparate places, actions, events, and actor:s." (slightly adapted text, © Kettler Verlag, 2022)
