"This survey volume is a tribute to Indian photojournalist and Pulitzer Prize winner Danish SIDDIQUI, who was murdered while on assignment in Afghanistan on July 16, 2021 for Reuters and Media agencies. He was an 'embedded journalist' with Afghan special forces when they were attacked by Taliban.
Danish SIDDIQUI (b. 1983 in New Delhi) joined Reuters in 2010 and covered key events in the Middle East and Asia such as the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and the protests in Hong Kong. He also photographed the everyday lives of ordinary people, such as up-and-coming Indian actors dreaming of Bollywood careers. In 2018, he and his Reuters team won the Pulitzer Prize for their coverage of the Rohingya refugee crisis. His too-early death is a reminder of the courage of journalists worldwide. His photos expose what is happening in the world and cannot be dismissed or ignored." (© Kehrer Verlag, 2023)
