About German photo artist, Diana SCHERER (b.1971, in Lauringen)

Diana SCHERER studied Fine Arts at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Her practice encompasses botany, photography, material research and sculpture. In her current project 'Interwoven 2015' she focuses on the dynamics of underground plant parts. The project was awarded the New Material Fellow Award, a biennial prize awarded by Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam (NL), which challenges artists and designers to develop and apply sustainable materials and innovative technologies.

Out-of-print 'The Peace Weary' by Diana SCHERER and Menno Wigman was created after 'A Murder in Rotterdam' with police photographs from 1905 to 1967. Independently of each other, both were inspired by the photographs and developed this joint book project.

  • In recent years, she has exhibited in several international solo and group exhibitions, including at the Textile Museum, Tilburg (NL), Victoria & Albert Museum, London (GB), Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (NL), RIXC Art Science Festival, Riga (LV) and will soon participate in the Biennale of Sydney (AU) and the MIT Museum, Boston (US).
