About the photographer, Sebastião SALGADO (*1944 in Aimorés, BRA)

Sebastião Ribeiro SALGADO Jr. is a photographer, photo reporter and environmental activist. He is one of the socially committed photographers in the tradition of social documentary photography. In 1979, he joined the prestigious Magnum Photos agency and was awarded the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade in 2019, making him only the second visual artist to receive this prestigious award.
