Über die deutsche Fotografin, Evelyn RICHTER (1930-2021)
After training as a photographer in Dresden (1948 - 1951), Evelyn RICHTER worked as a laboratory assistant at the Vereinigte Gewerbestätten Dresden and as a photographer at the TU Dresden. In 1953 she began her studies of photography at the HGB Leipzig with Johannes WIDMANN. Until 1980 she worked as a freelance theater and advertising photographer. After that she taught at the HGB in Leipzig, and additionally in 1990/91 at the FH Bielefeld. In 1992 Evelyn RICHTER was honored with the Culture Prize of the DGPh, in 2006 with the Art Prize of the state capital Dresden and in 2020 with the Bernd-and-Hilla-Becher-Award. Her last photographs were taken in 2012. On October 10, 2021, Evelyn RICHTER passed away in Dresden at the age of 91.
