Background information
"For many years, South Tyrolean photographer Roland REINSTADLER accompanied the life of a mountain farming family in the Val Passiria, determined by the weather and the rhythm of the seasons. In impressive color photographs, the photo series 'Gspell 111', published as a book, tells the story of a family that to this day still lives consistently in a very traditional way in the mountains of South Tyrol. While the old farmer Siegfried and his son Florian live the whole year on the farm, which is partly cut off from the outside world in winter, Katharina, the wife and mother, spends only the summer on the centuries-old farm.

The photo volume 'Gspell' by Roland REINSTADLER not only gives an insight into the once meager and extremely deprived life in the mountains, a life that exists in this form only very rarely, just 'The last of their kind'" (© Kehrer Verlag, 2022), but is also a very successful photo book from an aesthetic point of view.
