About the French photographer, Sarah MOON (*1941 in Vernon)
Sarah MOON (real name Marielle Warin) is a photographer and filmmaker. She began her career as a mannequin under the stage name Marielle Hadengue. She worked in Paris for several years until 1968, when she began taking photographs herself. She subsequently took numerous advertising photos for Dior, Chanel, Comme des Garçons and Christian Lacroix, among others. She also photographed fashion spreads for magazines, shot short films and documentaries, as well as the feature film 'Mississipi One'. Sarah MOON was the first woman to photograph for the prestigious 'Pirelli' calendar.
Her images, often in blurred B&W or pale colors - she often uses Polaroid material - lead the viewer into a realm of dreams, myths and fears; they also reflect paradise: unknown landscapes, enchanted cities. Her portraits of girls and women, the fashion shots in particular, have a timeless effect.
