About the German photographer, Arwed MESSMER (b. 1964, Schopfheim)

Arwed MESSMER dedicates the early 1990s as a documentary urban photographer to the changes of Berlin and East Germany. From 2007 on, he also deals with image collections in archives that have lost their original function. The result is extensive exhibitions and publications on East Berlin in the 1950s, the Berlin Wall, the archives of the State Security Service and West German left-wing terrorism.

'RAF. No evidence 'by Arwed MESSMER spans the arc from the beginnings to the multiple violent discharges in 1977. It offers a new perspective and also shows a ethical dimension: which pictures can be shown, how can they be shown, why should we see them?
