About the Cologne photographer, Erik SCHWARZ (1936-1999)

Erik SCHWARZ was admitted to the Cologne Werkschule in 1951 at the age of 15 as the youngest student. From 1957 he worked for the magazine 'Aufwärts' and from 1958 to 1963 for the Cologne daily newspaper 'Spätausgabe'. Until the late 1970s he was a photojournalist and freelance advertising and fashion photographer. He also illustrated books and photo brochures for Agfa. For the WDR (West German Broadcasting) he created intermission photos, and for EMI Electrola Erik SCHWARZ designed record covers (mainly in the field of German Schlager and folk music as well as oldies: 1972: Adam & Eve, Ralf Bendix, Franck Pourcel, 1973: Perry Baden, Sal Briggs, Benny Maro, 1974: Dum, Heino (until 1978), Rudy Tadday, Triumvirat, 1975: Mike Fabian, Hans Knipp, 1977: Gisela Eberlein, 1978: Maria Hellwig).
