more details

Heinrich RIEBESEHL left the Folkwangschule in Essen in 1965 after a conflict with Otto STEINERT, but resumed his studies in October 1972 after being admitted to the final semester on STEINERT's advice. As a practical final project, he had submitted photographs from the series 'Lokomotiven', 'Sabine', 'Menschen im Fahrstuhl' as well as self-portraits, among others. In July 1964 he photographed the 'Festival of New Art' at the TH Aachen, in which Wolf Vostell, Robert Filliou and Joseph Beuys, among others, participated, and in the following years he documented the beginnings of the 'Fluxus' movement in Germany. He made recordings of actions and happenings, including the 'Phenomena, dé-coll/age' happening in Berlin initiated by Wolf Vostell and the action '24 Hours' at the Galerie Parnass in Wuppertal, in which Bazon Brock, Charlotte Moorman and Nam June Paik also took part. In addition to his own photo books, he also edited and wrote texts for publications of the Spectrum Gallery in Hanover in the 1970s.
