About the Japanese photographer, Koji ONAKA (b. 1960, in Fukuoka prefecture)

Koji ONAKA graduated in 1982 from Tokyo Photograph College (toady: Tokyo Visual Arts). Participating in the Image shop 'CAMP' which was founded by Daido MORIYAMA. In 1988 he opened up the gallery [KAIDO] at Tokyo until 1992, re-opened in 2007 until 2014, re-re-opened in 2016. In 2002 he participated in the gallery [photographers' gallery] at Tokyo. In 2015 he started with a new photo magazine, called [KAIDO Magazine]. Since 1991 he has (self) published a lot of photo books and volumes. Koji ONAKA lives and works in Tokyo, Japan.

In 'Slow Boat' Koji ONAKA compares sailing on a boat with his way of life & photography. The b/w photos were taken between 1984 and 1999. His fifth monograph in total was published in three editions, with the 2nd edition published as a faithful facsimile.
