About German Ostkreuz-photographer, Sibylle FENDT (b. 1974, in Karlsruhe)

Sibylle FENDT is a member of the agency Ostkreuz and lives in Berlin since 2002. After studying art history, sociology & philosophy, she studied photography at the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld from 1996 to 2002 (diploma with Prof. Roman BEZJAK). From 2004 to 2006 she was a guest student of Wolfgang TILLMANS at the Städel in Frankfurt am Main. Since 2002 she has been working as an independent photographer; her themes are mostly socially critical, she focuses on people from the margins of society, such as the mentally ill or those who have failed in life, with a strong focus on feminist aspects. After teaching assignments in Dessau and Berlin-Weissensee, she has been teaching at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, in the Design Department, since 2013.
