This part of the two-volume work, 'Autopsie. Volume 1', by photo book expert Manfred HEITING presents the German-language titles of the interwar period in all their variety. The focus lies on the German-speaking countries and the period from 1918 to 1945.

In this first detailed monograph, Karl Blossfeldt. 'Variationen', which is entirely dedicated to the reception of his photographic work, Karl BLOSSFELDT expert Ulrike Meyer Stump analyzes the reproductions and traces the paths of some plant motifs.

The out-of-print volume 'Aus der Werkstatt der Natur' brings together the most beautiful photographs by Karl BLOSSFELDT as well as an unpublished text by the master. It follows his traces in contemporary art e.g. in the comic fantasies by Benoît Peeters.

Among the perfectly printed photographs in the book 'Fritz Kühn. Das photographische Werk 1931-1967', there is also a sequence of mostly unpublished photographs taken in Italy, which are among the most sovereign works of the artist who worked in the GDR.

'No Two Alike', expresses the shared interest of 3 artists - Karl BLOSSFELDT, Francis Bruguière, as well as Thomas RUFF - in variation as a creative principle, and represents the idea that each of these bodies of work represents a variation of the other.

'Urformen der Kunst' & 'Wundergarten der Natur' made him famous. 'Masterpieces', gathers the most beautiful of the strictly objective, yet poetic plant portraits by Karl BLOSSFELDT, which inspired both Surrealists & representatives of the New Objectivity.

The out-of-print volume 'Karl Blossfeldt Photographs 1865-1932' by photo historian Rolf Sachsse contains a trilingual introduction (German, French & English) and more than fifty-five black-and-white illustrations of plant photographs from the late 1920s.
