About the Swiss-american photographer Robert FRANK (1924-2019)
Already during his apprenticeship Robert FRANK began to catalog and edit his work. Influenced in the early years of his career by the Swiss photographers Gotthard SCHUH, Paul SENN as well as Jakob TUGGENER, he went to the USA in 1947. In 1958 his book 'The Americans' was published, a groundbreaking work that looked at Americans in a socially critical way as well as revolutionizing the aesthetics of the photo book. Among many other photo books, he also made many films, 'Pull My Daisy' (1959) as well as 'Cocksucker Blues' for the Rolling Stones (1972). Robert FRANK passed away on September 9, 2019.
