About the Italian photographer, Lorenzo CASTORE (b.1972, in Florence)

Lorenzo CASTORE grew up in Rome, where he began to photograph during his studies of law. Travels in India and seing Joseph KOUDELKA 'Exils' exhibition causes a deep and strong impression on him and changes his perspective on photography. Trips to Poland, India and New York, where photographs Ground Zero and the 9/11 impact. Michael ACKERMAN becomes one of his closest friends, in Paris he meets Anders PETERSEN. In 2004 he won the Mario Giacomelli Award and in 2005 the Leica European Publishers’ Award.

Photo volume 'Land' is a result of Lorenzo CASTORE's artist's stay in Gliwice, which witnessed events that erupted with the Second World War II. 'Land' is a summary of his wanderings, a photographic travel diary that focuses on the history of the people.
