About the German photographer, Sina NIEMEYER

Sina NIEMEYER is a visual lens-based artist. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography. Her work revolves around intimacy, human relationships and femininity. In 2018 she was selected as one of the most promising newcomers in German photography. The year after she was nominated for the C/O Berlin Talent Award in two consecutive years. Her project 'IGNOSCENTIA' about child sexual abuse has been awarded and shown widely internationally and was published as a monography. Her latest project 'The many wives of Mr. Lippka' about arranged marriages between Filipinas and men from the USA and Europe was supported by the follow up grant by Freundeskreis für Fotografie Deichtorhallen in Hamburg and received one of two honorable mentions at FotoEvidence W Award. For her next project about femicides she received the VG Bildkunst grant. Moreover, she regularly works for German magazines and NGOs. Sina NIEMEYER is based in Berlin.

'Für mich' (2018)


The artist photo volume 'Für mich' (For Me) by German photographer Sina NIEMEYER is an autobiographical story about sexual abuse. The project was born out of the need to understand and come to terms with what happened to her at a pre-pubescent age.
