Background information, content
In the 1950s and 60s there were around 4,000 drive-in theaters in the United States. In 1976, empty, unwitting landscapes with strange building remains were often left. Huge projection surfaces and typefaces attached to two posts, which only referred to their former task.
Belgian photographer Herman VAN DEN BOOM traveled the United States and documented these remains in the states of Nevada, Texas, California, Oklahoma, Colorado and Arizona in black and white horizontal photographs.
