About the German photo artist, Stefan HUNSTEIN (b. 1957, in Kassel)

Stefan HUNSTEIN studied at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts. In the 1980s he was engaged in Freiburg im Breisgau and at the Schauspielhaus Bochum, followed by many other theater roles. He has also made a name for himself as a television and cinema actor and reciter, including texts by Thomas Bernhard. Since his youth he has also been involved in photography, and is the winner of the German Photography Prize (1991); his works have been shown in solo exhibitions in several European countries. Stefan HUNSTEIN currently lives in Munich.

In 'Schön war's. From the Early Years of the Republic' photo artist Stefan HUNSTEIN explores the longings of the German society during the reconstruction. For this purpose he uses picture postcards from the 1930s to 1960s, which he manipulates & recolors.
