About German photo artist, Hannah HÖCH (1889-1978)

Hannah (real name Anna Therese Johanne) HÖCH was a German painter, graphic artist and collage artist. For a long time she was seen primarily as a Dadaist alongside Raoul HAUSMANN, with whom she stylistically developed photomontage, rather than as an artist in her own right. During the National Socialist era, her work was considered 'degenerate art' and was banned from exhibition. Until 1938 she earned her living, among other things, with designs for dust jackets for novels.
