About the German photographer, Andreas GURSKY (b.1955, in Leipzig)

Andreas GURSKY studied with Michael SCHMIDT from 1978 to 1981. From 1985 he was a master student of Bernd BECHER and thus belongs to the group of Becher students for whom the term Düsseldorf Photo School was coined. He began his artistic work with small-format photographs, switched to large formats in the late 1980s and to electronic image processing in the early 1990s.
