About British photographer Paul GRAHAM (b.1956)

Paul GRAHAM was best known for his social documentary recordings. Even during his studies in microbiology at the University of Bristol, he was intensively involved with photography. His photographic work is in the tradition of the British social realism of Bill BRANDT. Garry WINOGRAND, Lee FRIEDLANDER, Diane ARBUS, Stephen SHORE and William EGGLESTON are named as further influences. His debut book, the documentation of the A1 trunk road, was followed by a series of secretly made recordings on the sadness of British employment offices in 'Beyond caring'. In total, he published around 15 photo books by 2020. Paul GRAHAM has lived mainly in the USA since 1998 and has lived permanently in New York City since 2002.
