Background information
For his long-term project, Munich-based photographer Gerald v. FORIS in recent years animal skulls from the extensive archive of a collector, the result of which was published in the form of the title 'Skull' in a limited edition of 500 copies.

"The photo book 'Skull' by Gerald v. FORIS symbolizes the global biodiversity crisis in its own way, in which the most diverse forms of life are disappearing; it works like an archive of lost species richness. And then there is an effect that you only become aware of when you see it twice: Always Again Gerald from FORIS juxtaposes the animal heads with the landscapes in which they can be found during their lifetime: a Costa Rican scene and a toucan skull, the Karwendel and the skull of a chamois, the bones of an animal and the core of a region: if both are so succinct and clearly next to each other, a deeper insight emerges. Doesn't the chamois head actually look like the rugged rock? How can that be? Or can it not be any different?
