Background information, content
"To select the never-before-published color photographs for this mega-project, Elliott ERWITT combed through his extensive archive of nearly half a million 35mm slides. Then he started the mammoth task of gradually putting together this epic collection of around 450 pages. In most shots, the color has been beautifully preserved, and every moving detail looks as fresh as the first day. Whether world-leaders or daring showgirls, the motifs reflect ERWITT's incomparable and versatile empathy. To say that the contrasts are fascinating would be an understatement. From the market square to the camp, from Vegas to Venice, this diverse mix of carefully observed public and private curiosities suffices." (© teneues, 2013)
