Background information, content
"The
first major publication by US Magnum photographer Alec SOTH, 'Sleeping
by the Mississippi', is one of the most important series in contemporary
photography. On the occasion of the exhibition 'Two Rivers. Joachim
Brohm / Alec Soth', curator and filmmaker Ralph Goertz traveled to
Minneapolis. There he met the artist in his studio in St. Paul and was
allowed to accompany him on a shoot with his 8x10 camera.
In
his studio, he showed him his famous series such as 'Songbook' and
'Niagara' and talked about his work, his artistic approach
and how he reflects the medium itself in his work. A very rare cinematic
document!" (slightly adapted text by the publisher, © Ralph Goertz,
