Hintergrundinformation
This monograph, 'Boris Becker. Photographien 1984-2009', represents the first comprehensive overview of the work of the photographer, who was born in Cologne in 1961 and studied with Bernd and Hilla BECHER at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. The artist Boris BECKER is one of the important representatives of the German photography scene. As a 'second generation' student of BECHER, he embarks on a pictorial quest with his camera that focuses more on formal structures and color accents than responding to the usual key stimuli of city and nature views, such as those motivated by cultural history.
Content
This catalog monograph, 'Photographien 1984-2009,' conveys in detail how the work by Boris BECKER since the mid-1980s has explored a wide range of thematic complexes. His series 'Bunker Photographs' is the most extensive group, with 700 photographs, in which he recorded German bunkers from the Second World War in an almost encyclopedic manner. It was followed by photographs of residential buildings and architectural constructions. In addition, he repeatedly took landscape photographs. Boris BECKER's more recent works in 'Photographs 1984-2009' include the groups of works 'Artefacts' with images of individual or accumulated objects, and 'Fakes' with photographs of objects 'faked' for smuggling narcotics."
