About the German photographer, Volker DÖHNE (b. 1953, in Remscheid)

After his apprenticeship as a typesetter, Volker DÖHNE studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Bernd BECHER (from 1976 to 1980) and Tünn Konerding (from 1978 to 1980). He is thus one of the first graduates of the so-called 'Becher School'. From 1980 to 2018 he worked as a photographer and designer at the Krefeld Art Museums. In his photographs he reflects - similar to Thomas STRUTH and Tata RONKHOLZ - the urban living space and which creative and architectural forms it produces; conclusions about social contexts are intended.
