Background information
"'Blind Spots' is a study of our perception. It is an investigation into what we see when we see - and what we unconsciously choose not to see. When we come into a new environment, we ask ourselves, 'Where am I?' But as soon as we realize the context, our attention drops again. Balder OLRIK's works are inspired by Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahnemann's model of the brain's perceptual structures. In his paintings, Balder OLRIK disrupts our visual habits by removing context-specific pictorial elements, also as a call to perceive our environment more consciously. 'Blind Spots' is the first book about his photographic works.
