About German photographer Ludolf DAHMEN

Ludolf DAHMEN studied photo design at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (majoring in photojournalism) and graduated in 2003 with a photo reportage on everyday school life in Japan. Since 1998 he has been working as a freelance photographer for numerous renowned clients in the business, social and media sectors. His portraits and reportages have been published in many magazines. In addition to photographs and stories of and about people, he is increasingly engaged in architectural photography and construction documentation. Since 2018 he has been photographing the construction project 'koelnmesse 3.0' (new construction of two exhibition halls) and since 2021 the demolition and future construction of the LVR House. His repertoire also includes filming and creating time-lapse photography.

Customer praises (a selection)
  • "Ludolf DAHMEN is one of my favorite photographers. Not only because I know that his photos always surprise me in terms of the solution to the task and the brilliance of his images. It's fun to develop ideas with him, but also to discuss his projects, which have nothing at all to do with our magazine. I have always been impressed by his social commitment, which he likes to combine with his commissions. And his exciting fellowships; two of them took him to Japan. A painting from these series has a place of honor in my apartment and is a 'real eye-catcher' every day again, even after several years." (Maja Lendzian, Chief Editor WDR-Print)

"One of Koelnmesse's communication goals as an internationally active organizer of trade fairs and exhibitions is, in particular, to present Cologne as an attractive, lively trade fair location and to communicate its trade fair activities worldwide in images. The image worlds should have an emotionally appealing basic tone and a high photographic quality. Mr. Ludolf DAHMEN takes these goals into account to a high degree in his freelance photography work for Koelnmesse. He translates our photographic requirements into a convincing visual language, which he adapts flexibly to the respective task and situation." (Guido Gudat, Head of Corporate Communications Koelnmesse)
