Cologne is not famous for Footfachmesse 'Photokina', brought to life by Fritz Gruber. Before the then Cologne Werkschule was wound up, photography was also taught in Cologne with high standards. Today, Cologne is home to the prestigious Hunsthochschule für Medien, or KHM for short, with an extremely well-stocked photobook library, which still offers the study of artistic photography in the degree program 'Mediale Künste'.
