Background information
"This volume, 'Dr. Paul Wolff & Alfred Tritschler. Printed Images 1906-2019' presents the publications resulting from the collaboration of the so-called 'pioneers of the (Leica) 35mm camera', revealing both their extraordinary technical and artistic skills and their successful business acumen. Their multi-layered works include industrial reportage, mores, news coverage, sports and leisure photography, advertising campaigns and commercials. This volume brings together more than 1,000 well-known photographic books, plus the extensive magazine features, and showcases the pioneering work of 35mm Leica photography - both in black-and-white and, for the first time, in color - by Paul WOLFF.
Content
Based on the photographic publications of Dr. Paul WOLFF and Alfred TRITSCHLER, the volume 'Dr. Paul Wolff & Alfred Tritschler. Printed Images 1906-2019' is the first convincing account of how 35mm Leica photography - and the development of color photography - changed society and the 'new' consumer during the period of the Weimar Republic and the 'Third Reich', and the leading role played by the two photographers: Their success was closely linked to both the rise of the visual media as well as advertising and its misuse for ideological purposes. Their photo books / pictorial publications also take on political significance in the context of their specific use - especially in the 1930s. This book, which for the first time takes a look at the many publications of the photographer duo 'Dr. Paul Wolff & Alfred Tritschler' in Germany and abroad, thus becomes a standard overview work of their multifaceted work."
