"In the photographic volume 'Tonatiuh', photographer Juan BRENNER undertakes an in-depth visual study of contemporary Guatemalan society from the perspective of the mestizaje and the consequences of the Spanish conquest in the form of a complex, segregated and deeply troubled society. To do this, he visited more than fifty villages in Guatemala, following in the footsteps of the conquistador Pedro de Alvarado. At the end of the book is a map of the places he visited and a description of his photographs, which give a good insight into his work." (© RM Editorial, 2020)
