"New technical developments, floods of images and blurring boundaries between reality and fiction: For the exhibition series' with / against the flow 'contemporary photographic interventions', photographic positions were selected in which new forms of pictorial reality are used to question our society of the spectacle.
The much-revered flood of images in the works of artists living in Germany is both a tool and an object of investigation. The intervention in the pictorial material or in the external reality thereby combines the manifold, artistic works." (free translated text, © ifa)
"With profound observations, optical illusions and subtle constructions, Taiyo ONORATO & Nico KREBS draw our attention to cultural idiosyncrasies in various societies - or even civilizations, as in their work on the USA, 'The Great Unreal.'
Their photographs and film installations do not just show real urban ensembles, but use small interventions to reflect on our own ideas and clichés that we project onto them.
For the ifa exhibition series, works that were created in Berlin have been selected in which the artists create nearly perfect visual puzzles. By the use of ordinary roofing beams, pyrotechnics, and optical shifts they dedicate themselves to the reality and myth of the city of Berlin as an eternal wasteland. These pictures also cleverly demystify themselves in certain details, and they thus oscillate between construction and deconstruction." (publisher's note, © Koenig, 2019)
"The exhibition series 'with / against the flow. Contemporary photographic interventions.' shows contemporary artistic photography from Germany, juxtaposed with contributions from two artists in each exhibition, each double exhibition heading for a multi-year world tour.

On the design of the catalogs: the catalogs appear as a publication series and are designed in a light, experimental and open-looking form. The editions of the series are structured by means of a color concept and the artistic works are presented compactly in image series (with the participation of the participating photographers).
In the image sections, among other things, greatly enlarged details and 1: 1 cutouts are integrated, which look like close-ups and allow an additional unusual view of the work; an black-and-white text section on thin natural paper follows. This text contains an interview, installation views and a studio shot, which is realized by the artists themselves.
The flexible carton for the dust jacket and the binding as a folder brochure give the catalog a booklet character. On the dust jacket a selected piece of work will be reproduced in poster size." (free translated and slightly modified text, © Nicola REITER)
