Background information
"Dennis HOPPER, one of Hollywood's icons as an actor, writer and director, was a tireless chronicler of his surroundings as a photographer. Between 1961 and 1967 he took countless photographs. He selected 400 shots for his first major photography exhibition in 1969/70 at the Fort Worth Art Museum, Texas. These vintage prints, packed in boxes and forgotten for decades, were rediscovered after his death and are now on view in Europe for the first time. The original originals were digitized, leaving traces of use and aging visible, as well as notes and annotations by the artist. This gives the collection a unique aura of the personal and the immediate. These are legendary images, spontaneous, intimate and poetic, while also decidedly political and sharply observant."
