"On my bike tours, I kept seeing cars s, buses and trucks just standing in the area. I think my first reaction was to look for the absent owner. But since I mostly didn't see anyone, I was left alone with the situation and suddenly a relationship developed with these vehicles that I hadn't expected. The cars in the landscape had an effect on me like that of actors on a stage, and from then on I began to interpret and collect their wit and tragedy." (Bernhard FUCHS)

"The photo volume 'Cars' by Bernhard FUCHS was published in large format. It gives the color photographs seemingly the character of general picture plates, but at a closer look they reveal themselves as sensitive shots of everyday situations and as individual portraits of the cars depicted."
