Background information, content
"In his most political photo book, 'Impasse Hotel Syria', the Danish photographer Krass CLEMENT does without any text, because the pictures leave no question about the intention of the publication of 'Impasse Hotel Syria' (Engl.: Dead End Hotel Syria).
As in his last books, 'Impasse Hotel Syria' has become a very personal travel and photography book. However, here the Danish photographer describes the recent past of a country by publishing images now taken as early as 2001. Impasse Hotel Syria' by Krass CLEMENT is a personal commentary on the shocking change that the country of Syria has undergone in the last fifteen years. 'Impasse Hotel Syria' represents both conditions: the impasse and the open-hearted and welcoming.
This is the sounding board while seeing the beautiful photos. The Krass CLEMENT-experienced viewer will notice his typical manner, which is definitely cinematic and lyrical. The photographs represent a search for and a look back at a society that was intact just a few years ago and is now in ruins."
