Background information
"Since 2006, Japanese photographer Toshiya MURAKOSHI has been working away with his hometown of Fukushima as the central subject of his practice, and continues to photograph various familiar landscapes in the region. The 'Great East Japan Earthquake' of 2011 and the nuclear disasters that followed have transformed his home into a strange place. The Japanese photographer is now working to continue photographing the places where scars of the disaster still remain. The artless, documentary act of his photography manifests itself in the form of a photographic oeuvre imbued with a peculiar strength." (© Takaishii Gallery, 2018)
