Background information
"Poetry of Police Photography. Arnold ODERMATT joined the Nidwalden police in 1948. He photographed accident scenes to which he was called with a Rolleiflex in order to supplement the police record with photos. After his retirement, his son discovered the negatives - and made his father a star. From the extensive archive, 140 of the best shots have been compiled.
Content
With the accuracy of a chronicler, the photographing police officer Arnold ODERMATT recorded for this photo volume, 'Meine Welt- Photographs from 1939-1993', his rural civil service life in pictures - on duty and in civilian clothes. With his eye for the small, seemingly incidental occurrences and through his outstanding compositions, the photographer succeeds again and again in capturing situations that often seem unintentionally funny and ironic."
